Mobile Foodbank & Food Connections
Foodbank are at the Centre every Monday, from 12.15 – 1pm offering low cost food assistance.
Please free call Anglicare on 1800 979 777 for your over the phone assessment. Please see Jo, our Community Development Officer, in the Centre if you need help with the referral process. The YFC and our volunteers provide a free light lunch for community members and a share trolley is available outside the Centre near the front door with a range of donated items that change regularly.
Yangebup Community Eats
Free Community Dinner held monthly at the Yangebup Family Centre on a Friday night from 6-7pm. All welcome. This initiative is a partnership between the City of Cockburn and local organisations with volunteers from a different organisation providing the meal each month.
Cultural Cooking
Commencing around May each year, our volunteers meet monthly to provide cooking demonstrations from different cuisines. Contact the centre for more information. Join our Cultural Cooking Facebook group or contact the Centre to join our Whatsapp group.
Workshops
The Yangebup Family Centre provides a variety of workshops throughout the year in partnership with other organisations including St John Ambulance and the City of Cockburn.
We also offer a range of workshops provided by volunteer facilitators or local presenters including sustainability, crafts and photography. Do you have a passion you would like to share with others? Contact manager@yangebupfamilycentre.org to find out how we could do this together.
Street Library
The Yangebup Street Library is located outside the Centre so you can take a book or leave a book any time of the day or night! More books are available inside the Centre during office hours.
Connecting Community for Kids
Connecting Community for Kids work collaboratively to support and improve the well-being and development of children and families across Cockburn and Kwinana. The Yangebup Family Centre is proud to be a member of this initiative. For more information on how you can be involved contact the Centre.
Yangebup Leisure Group
The Yangebup Leisure Group is our seniors group that meets every Tuesday from 9:30 – 12:30pm. The ladies are now meeting at the Great Life Church on the corner of Williambury Dr and Yangebup Rd. Activities include bingo, board games, crafts, speakers and outings. Contact the Centre or Maggie Di Re 0413 862 315 for more information.
Child and Adolescent Community Health
The Child Health Nurse, who is co-located in the Family Centre building, provides a series of workshops to new parents in the area. These workshops provide new families with parenting skills and the opportunity to meet other new families in the local area. The nurse is available to assist you with your parenting needs. Craft n Chat
Originally Social Sewing the group is now called Craft n Chat to include the other activities like knitting and crochet happening at the Centre. All crafts are welcome. It is offered regularly at the Centre with creche provided for some sessions. Join the Facebook group or contact the Centre for more information.
Perth Academy of Performing Arts
PAPA provide accessible, affordable, professional performing arts experiences for children 5 years to adult on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 3.30-8.30pm. Please check the website for more details.
Allegro Choir
The Allegro Choir have now outgrown the space available at our Centre and have moved to the Yangebup Baptist Church, 6 Mainsail Terrace, Yangebup. They meet on Tuesdays from 7.30-9.30pm.
